After a mostly cold, dreary spring this year, warm, Summer-like weather had made an appearance this year.  This was the first evening while driving into the station at 10:45 PM that I had the windows down and the radio blasting-  the first part of the show was inspired by that.  The second part of the show was a tribute to the late Dr. Timothy Leary, who left this world (for the last time) on May 31, 1996. The songs were a mixture of Leary, songs inspired by him, and just psychedelia.

The first part of the show was a tribute to the late Ray Manzarek, keyboardist for The Doors, who had passed away earlier in the week at age 74.  The second part of the show was a set for Memorial Day- based around war, peace and freedom.  Side 2@2 was chosen mainly due to the title "Armed Forces" in reference to Memorial Day.  The final part of the show was a drums and rhythm-based segue into "Oh Boy! 3AM"- which began with Mickey Hart's soundtrack to "Apocalypse Now."
